So you’ve seen it at concerts—front-row fans hand their phones to an artist on the stage so the artist will take a picture of him- or herself and hand the phone back to the fan.
Voilà! Instant concert souvenir.
But Dierks Bentley says there is a downside to that practice.
“The problem with taking selfies, once you do one of it, I mean, the rest of the show, people are literally throwing $400 iPhones up on stage,” Dierks told reporters recently.
“Like, ‘That’s your phone, man! All your contacts. Your pictures that cost $400. You just tossed it up here on stage,’” he said.
“Once you start it, everyone’s like [tossing phones on stage]. So, we usually wait ’til the end to start taking pictures.”
The picture taking starts all over again Friday night (May 9) in North Carolina as Dierks launches his Riser Tour .
