More than 60 years after they originally aired on radio, 24 performances from the legendary Hank Williams are being released by Omnivore Recordings on a new album called The Garden Spot Programs, 1950.
The collection includes hit songs, standards and rarely performed music from Hank and will be available on CD as well as vinyl. The package contains rare photos and liner notes from Hank’s biographer Colin Escott.
In a release, Hank’s daughter, Jett, says, “It’s incredible to me that we’re still finding new recordings by my dad—great ones at that. No one even suspected that these recordings existed. We partnered with Omnivore Recordings for this release, and I especially love that they’re taking my dad back to vinyl.”
The complete project will be available May 20; however, a 10-inch vinyl EP sampler will be available on Record Store Day tomorrow (April 19).
