Wednesday afternoon (April 16), Jason Aldean celebrated his 13th chart-topping single, “When She Says Baby,” with an invitation-only shindig at Nashville’s The Pour House. Jason was joined by friends and family, including his band, record producer and record label, as well as the song’s two writers—Ben Hayslip and Rhett Akins—to commemorate the latest achievement in his career.
“When She Says Baby” topped the charts in February for three consecutive weeks, marking the 17th No. 1 hit in the career of Rhett Akins, and Ben Hayslip’s 14th, which also included Jason’s “The Only Way I Know” back in 2012.
“I was feeling pretty good until I got here, and then I hear that everybody else has more No. 1s than I do,” Jason joked once taking the podium to thank the key people in his career who helped him get to where he is today. “This is awesome . . . this is something that never gets old. Having a No. 1 is a huge deal, and getting to be able to share it with guys you consider your friends, that makes it even more special. Ben and Rhett have a few more cuts on the next record, so hopefully we’ll be back here soon!”
Plaques were given to Jason, Ben and Rhett from various industry organizations, including the singer’s label (Broken Bow Records), Country Radio Broadcasters, the Country Music Association and Avenue Bank.
Once the business side of things were squared away, those in attendance mingled and enjoyed the cheeseburger sliders, chicken sliders, cheese platters and the build-your-own nachos buffet.
