What comes around goes around, and in the case of Kelleigh Bannen’s new video for “Famous,” it comes around with twice as much vengeance and a pretty convincing scorned woman played by the country newcomer.
The video takes place in the desert, with additional setups in a seedy hotel and dark, smoky bar. The various desolate backdrops provide a stark contrast to the beautiful images of the country star in a glamorous wardrobe, including a runway-worthy gown that is sure to inspire copycat versions. The sets are also an unscrupulous and shady contradiction to the doe-eyed, pouty-lipped Kelleigh, who is at times soft and innocent and at others strong and deadly as any Southern belle who knows her way around a Winchester would be.
Kudos to director Hannah Lux Davis, whose attention to detail had us watching over and over to capture subtle things, like Kelleigh’s nails polished an innocent baby pink while her nemesis’s talons are harlot scarlet.
Less subtle is the fact that the romantic lead is with a different woman in the beginning of the video than he’s with at the end, further driving home what a world-class jerk he is.
