LeAnn Rimes has ventured into new territory with the release of her music video for “Gasoline and Matches.” The Buddy and Julie Miller-penned tune is one of the 13 tracks found on LeAnn’s Spitfire album, and features Matchbox 20’s Rob Thomas on vocals and guitar legend Jeff Beck laying down his signature licks.
Rather than sticking to a more traditional video treatment, however, LeAnn turned to the creative mind of video producer and artist Ian Padgham, who directed and filmed the raw video with iPhones and several six-second clips using the popular Vine video app.
The footage of LeAnn and Rob singing their parts is interspersed with animated characters depicting—you guessed it—a gas pump and a box of matches, and the clip has its share of comical moments that keeps the flow upbeat and fun.
But it’s the social-media-inspired filming technique that really turns heads. And in the often snoozy world of videos, that’s something to get fired up about.
