When Florida Georgia Line announced they were reissuing their debut album, Here’s to the Good Times, many wondered how they could take the party up one more notch. The answer: with five bonus tracks.
“This Is How We Roll,” which lends the album its updated title, goes hand in hand with what country music fans are demanding, thanks to a hooky melody and infectious lyrics. FGL co-wrote the tune with rising star Cole Swindell, as well as Luke Bryan, who joined Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard in the studio for the song. Luke’s addition brings an extra level of energy to an already strong track peppered with plenty of personality. But the standout may very well be “People Back Home.” Brian fans in particular will love the song for the fact that BK sings lead on the choruses. A solid and heartfelt shout-out to their friends and family who have stood behind them all the way, the track finds Tyler rapping through verses that credit their teachers, pastors, fans and all the people they grew up with for allowing them to dream big and work hard. Now we got the whole world cruisin’, Tyler raps.
The guys turn up the heat with the sexy “Hands on You” and “Take It Out on Me,” but return to the party with “Headphones,” which, like the lyrics state, you won’t be able to get out of your headphones. The duo’s collaboration with rapper Nelly on “Cruise” rounds out the set. The deluxe edition of the album also features a bonus DVD featuring all five of the duo’s official music videos.
Here’s to the Good Times . . . This Is How We Roll shows of just how far these two have grown and matured in the year-plus since first breaking onto the country music scene.
