Eric Church is gonna bust out a hard-rock song at the CMA Awards, and he tells the Associated Press he has no idea what reaction it'll get.
“Could be crowd-surfing, could be mosh pits,” Eric said. “They could be throwing cans at me.”
The song is "The Outsiders," the title cut and first single from his new album, set to come out Feb. 11. And it's described as having "Black Sabbath-influenced metal moments" that push the boundaries of country music to the edge.
“If you go past that, it’s a cliff,” Eric said. “Sometimes I feel like we’re leaning over it.”
After selling 1.5 million copies of his last album, Eric feels a little better about taking the risk.
"With the success of Chief, we were a little bulletproof.”
