Her boots may be pink, but they’re sturdy! And her construction partner may be country music’s biggest star, but he’s sturdy, too. And when Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks arrived in Denver this week, they were less focused on selling a song and more concerned about swinging a hammer.
The pair are taking part, along with 400 other volunteers, in a new Habitat for Humanity build across Colorado.
“You keep bouncing back,” says Garth. “There is something magical about this place. I think your faith is strong here and I think it shows.” According to Colorado’s News Channel 9 , the build is part of the Carter Work Project, started by President Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter.
Garth joked that this is the first build he’s done where he wasn’t assigned to a Carter house. “It’s a vacation for us,” says Trisha with a laugh, concerning the former president’s dedicated work ethic.
This is the sixth year that Garth and Trisha have worked with Habitat for Humanity. Last year, they traveled to Haiti with President Carter to help with construction.
