Most folks who think of The Sound of Music think of Julie Andrews singing her way through those hills that are alive with—you guessed it—the sound of music.
It was Julie who became synonymous with the role of Maria von Trapp in the original 1965 movie, for which Julie, now 78, earned an Oscar nomination.
So what does Julie think of country star Carrie Underwood reprising the role for an upcoming live TV production of The Sound of Music?
“I think she’s great,” Julie told the Belfast (Ireland) Telegraph at a recent red carpet even in L.A.
“It’s going to be the original show, I believe,” Julie added, “and I think after 40 or 50 years it’s probably time somebody else had a crack at it.”
Carrie’s production airs live on NBC Dec. 5.
