Gretchen Wilson can finally put her lifelong love of auto racing to perfect use. Gretchen has teamed up with NASCAR to narrate and appear in the opening TV segments of the 10-race Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup championship, better known as simply “The Chase.” Gretchen’s songs will also be featured in other segments throughout the Chase series.
The first race takes place Sunday, Sept. 15, in Chicago. Nine of the 10 races will air on ESPN, with the Oct. 12 event from Charlotte airing on ABC. “I can't tell you how excited I am to be associated with NASCAR and ESPN as we begin the Chase,” Gretchen noted in a release. “Many of the fans who show up at our concerts on Saturday nights are watching the races on Sundays. I'm honored to be a part of this great American tradition.”
Gretchen added that she’s been a racing fan since childhood, when she watched her uncle compete on dirt tracks outside St. Louis. “He would let me clean the mud out of the wheel wells, and I thought I was part of the pit crew,” she said. “This has already been an exciting season and I think it's about to get crazier.”
