It’s no coincidence that all three folks in Lady A—Dave Haywood, Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott—are co-writers on the song.
In fact, Dave tells ABC News Radio that he really relates to that guy in the song.
“There’s that moment in time where you break up with somebody, and every single thing in that town just reminds you of them,” Dave says.
“For me, in Augusta, there’s spots across Augusta, Georgia, that remind me of somebody when I was dating them in high school. Those are those moments where you just wanna get the heck outta there.”
Of course, Dave and Charles had another reason for leaving Augusta and coming to Nashville.
“Like for us, it was chase a dream and get out and try something and try do something unique and special with your life. And hopefully it will be that empowering for people that listen to it.”
