This could have been an amiably serviceable video with just a line-by-line rendering of the song, showing a “cool chick” dancing on the bar or a guy puffing on a plethora of Cuban cigars.
But to its credit, the video takes the song up a level with creative use (but not overuse) of digital effects and a surreal atmosphere. Once we get our bearings, we realize that Keith is living in a house that’s situated on the 50-yard line of a football stadium—actually, Middle Tennessee State University’s Floyd Stadium, located outside Nashville—which certainly must be a bit chaotic on game day.
When Keith walks outside and passes through a tunnel, he soon finds himself cruising down the highway in a vintage car. He opens a door to retrieve the newspaper and enters a street scene with folks on their way to work.
It’s a little quirky but Keith’s easygoing manner helps make it all work.
