Gary Allan, one of the more private country artists around, gives a rare glimpse into his personal life on an upcoming GAC special, Backstory: Gary Allan, premiering Sunday, July 14, at 10 p.m. ET. In this latest installment of the Backstory series, Gary talks about his success, his love of surfing and the turbulence in his personal life.
Gary delves into his childhood, when he was offered a record contract at 15, and shares some photos from his younger days. He looks back at the tragic suicide of his wife Angela and the year he spent focusing on the well-being of his children after the loss.
On the country charts since 1996, Gary recently celebrated the biggest hit of his career with "Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain)," which he co-wrote. Longevity, he notes in the GAC special, has been foremost in his career plan. "I've always known I didn't want to be the latest, greatest thing because that never lasts," he says.
