Brad Paisley's opening acts this summer must be waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Brad is a legendary prankster on the road, but so far this tour, he has treated his opening acts to go-cart races and private theater screenings of blockbuster movies.
Brad tells reporters that this is not some evil plan to really stick it to Lee Brice, Chris Young and The Henningsens later this summer. He says he remembers being the opening act, and he enjoyed when the headliners treated him well.
"The closest we got to what we do was Brooks & Dunn would rent a cool, local club near the venue and we would go out and jam. Myself and Rascal Flatts and Kix and Ronnie. I'm trying to think who all was on that tour. There was like six people," he said.
"And we would all get up and just do everything from Mellencamp songs to George Jones songs. It was a real camaraderie. Reba would take us out to dinner and things and buy a nice bottle of wine for everyone. That's her thing."
OK, Brad, you're a really nice guy, and you are always kind to opening acts. But your thing is also to prank your opening acts. What gives?
"This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to tour and only get these acts out one time, and I like to try to make it really hard for another headliner to give 'em a better time, you know?"
Hmm. Anyone else suspicious?
