Florida Georgia Line’s Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard are fully aware of the difficulty of getting one No. 1 song. But two right out of the gate? “That’s a dream come true,” said Brian as the duo celebrated their second consecutive chart-topper, “Get Your Shine On,” at an industry party at Nashville restaurant Sambuca, Monday (June 10).
Brian, Tyler and their co-writers on the song, Rodney Clawson and Chris Tompkins, talked with reporters about their latest hit prior to the festivities. Tyler noted, “It’s a cool anthem and we fell in love with it the first time we heard it.” Rodney recalled that Tyler had the idea for the song. “It’s just a cool visual line,” Rodney said. “Does it mean you’re drinking moonshine? Does it mean just having a good time? We tried to incorporate all those different elements into the song.”
Brian also told media members that he and Tyler are in the process of working on a new project. “We have been writing as much as we can,” Brian said. “We probably won’t start cutting until the fall.”
During the party, Tyler thanked his record label team for their efforts on behalf of the duo’s red-hot career. “This doesn’t happen by itself,” Tyler declared. Tyler also recalled the early days when he and Brian were a struggling act, traveling in a van. He nodded toward their song publisher, Craig Wiseman, and thanked him for fixing his transmission “when I couldn’t afford to get it done.” Brian added, “This isn’t something we take for granted.”
