It was definitely a case of "ready, aim, fire" Thursday morning (June 6) at NRA Country's fan breakfast in Nashville. Only it wasn't bullets that were being fired . . . it was song after great country song.
Josh Thompson, Craig Campbell and Sunny Sweeney performed some of their biggest hits, along with songs from upcoming projects. In fact, Josh debuted what may be the first single from his new project, "Cold Beer With Your Name on It," and Craig, who just released his new album, Never Regret, performed a song so new, his guitarists hadn't heard it. Sunny brought down the house with "Everybody Else Can Kiss My Ass," her anthem to a job that only lasted 21 days, inspired by her boss at that job. But in addition to a stack of former and future hits, the trio also provided giggles galore, regaling fans with hilarious stories about morning cocktails, Merle Haggard and more.
NRA Country is the lifestyle-oriented branch of the nonprofit gun rights organization, and all three country artists admit to being pretty handy with a rifle or a rod and reel. Josh, an avid outdoorsman, reminds us, "It's a lifestyle thing. Anybody that loves country music, that loves to go camping, fishing, hunting, canoeing, grows a garden, who loves the freedom and the outdoors, that's what NRA Country is about. And I'm glad to be a part of it."
