Blake Shelton wanted to do his part for his home state of Oklahoma after the recent tornadoes that devastated the area and left thousands without homes. Blake called upon his fellow artists, including wife Miranda Lambert, Luke Bryan and others, for a fundraising show, "Healing in the Heartland: Relief Benefit Concert," May 29 in Oklahoma City, which was televised by NBC, CMT and several other networks.
He can now say "job well done" after the heartening news that the concert raised more than $6 million in pledges and ticket sales, according to NewsOK.com . Proceeds from the event will go to the United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund, whose spokesperson told NewsOK.com the organization had nearly $3 million in its relief fund prior to the show. Due to the success of the concert, the fund should now exceed $9 million.
Thanks to Blake and all the artists who participated in "Healing in the Heartland."
