Carrie Underwood would say she’s reserved but she knows that has been misinterpreted as chilly or distant.
“We were never a huggy family,” she tells Marie Claire magazine , “or a ‘let’s talk it out’ family.
“Technically I have siblings, but they are quite a bit older than me—I was the accident—so I have the only-child syndrome going on. I’m a little more selfish, a little more independent, a little closed,” she adds.
“I do wish I were softer,” she says plainly. “I wish I were able to form relationships better.
“But hey, I mean,” Carrie adds, laughing, “I’m not a sociopath.”
And sometimes Carrie’s reserve really comes out when she’s with her hubby, NHL hockey player Mike Fisher.
“He is Mr. Nicest Guy on the Planet. I skew the other way,” Carrie concedes.
“I don’t want to listen to everybody’s problems all the time,” she says. “And I doubt anybody wants to listen to mine.”
Carrie’s mom, Carole, says her little girl often preferred to be by herself. “She was never really a people person,” Mom said. “She liked being outside with animals.”
