Just days before he's set to co-host the nationally televised ACM Awards, Blake Shelton has scored his best single week of album sales ever.
Blake sold more than 199,000 copies of his new album, Based on a True Story, in its first week, giving him the No. 1 country album and the No. 3 album on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart.
That's almost double the best sales week he has had before a couple of years ago, when the first week sales of Red River Blue totaled around 116,000.
Blake's new album got lots of help from his eighth No. 1 single in a row, "Sure Be Cool If You Did."
More good news for country fans: While Blake finished No. 3 this week on the Billboard 200, analysts expect The Band Perry to be No. 2 on that chart next week by selling more than 100,000 copies of the new album, Pioneer. That would nearly double the trio's first-week sales of its self-titled debut album back in 2010.
