Trace Adkins will try to avoid getting fired, again, by Donald Trump during the next cycle of All-Star Celebrity Apprentice, premiering March 3 on NBC.
Speaking to reporters alongside castmates including Gary Busey and Penn Jillette at the Television Critics Association press tour this morning (Jan. 6) in Pasadena, Calif., Trace recalled his 2008 run—in which he was bested in the finals by CNN talk show host Piers Morgan—as “one of the most stressful periods of my adult life” because he was “forced to tolerate individuals that I normally wouldn’t tolerate.”
So what prompted him to return to the reality competition? The American Red Cross. The relief organization was there when Trace’s house burned down in 2011 and he wanted to pay them back, which is why he chose the Red Cross as his charity for this season of Celebrity Apprentice. Says Trace matter-of-factly: “It took my house burning down to get me to come back.”
