It's been a huge year for Taylor Swift by pretty much any measure, with Red beating the competition in sales and landing on myriad best of 2012 lists. Now the young superstar will close out the year leading another category: charitable donations.
DoSomething.org recently published its "Top 20 Celebs Gone Good of 2012 " list, and Taylor sits at No. 1 on the all-star list of musicians, actors and athletes championing good causes. Among her philanthropic endeavors were a $4 million donation to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, and work with youth battling cancer. She also became the youngest person ever to receive the Ripple of Hope Award from the Robert F. Kennedy Center for her efforts.
Just behind Taylor at No. 2 is Miley Cyrus, whose causes include her own Saving Spot! Rescue, as well as the Toms' One Day Without Shoes challenge, Save the Music Foundation, Starkey Hearing Foundation and Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Carrie Underwood also appears on the list, at No. 17, thanks to her work to raise money for her hometown of Checotah, Okla., as well as the Humane Society and PETA. And ardent country fan and Good Morning America host Robin Roberts clocks in at No. 6, using her own battle with myelodysplastic syndrome to raise public awareness for bone cancer.
