Tim McGraw and Faith Hill kicked off their Soul2Soul show this past weekend (Dec.7) at The Venetian in Las Vegas—and the very first number has Faith, accompanied by Tim, singing to the crowd "Let's Go to Vegas!"
The country music superstars dazzled during sold-out opening weekend shows that included Bruce Springsteen and Tom Hanks among the audience members.
The duo took turns on the stage singing their old hits as well as new songs. Faith wowed the assembly with a few of her own hits, including, "Breathe" and "This Kiss." She then addressed the audience and thanked the country's wounded veterans, adding, "I'm proud to be an American," before belting out her latest single, "American Heart."
Meanwhile, Tim gave it his all and rocked the stage with a few of his oldies but goodies, including "The Cowboy in Me," and a very powerful rendition of "Live Like You Were Dying."
Throughout the show, Tim and Faith joined each other onstage for stirring versions of "It's Your Love," "Like We Never Loved at All" and "I Need You." They kissed each other at the end of each duet, to the delight of the audience.
And though Garth Brooks just wrapped his run in Vegas, his influence remains on country stars playing Sin City. While Garth used his Vegas run to come out onto the stage with just a guitar and tell stories about his career and songs, Tim and Faith gave a nod to that format partway through the show when both stars took a seat, turned up the house lights and spoke with the crowd about their careers and influences.
Oh, and they also used that time to have a little fun.
"No, we're not having any more kids," Tim informed everyone as he joked with Faith about getting intimate after the show.
The friendly crowd of 1,800 loved all the couple's offerings, rewarding them with standing ovations for their hits, both individual and duets, and for covers of the songs that influenced them, such as those by the Eagles and Aretha Franklin.
The show marks the first time in six years that Tim and Faith have performed together in the United States. The couple is scheduled to perform at The Venetian in Las Vegas for 10 weekends through April 2013.
