Country music's biggest stars, including Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Rascal Flatts and Sugarland, have joined a coalition comprised of entertainment and sports organizations supporting legislation to protect fans in the state of Tennessee from rogue ticket scalpers.
Eric, who discovered his fan club had been infiltrated by ticket scalpers who were buying up special tickets and marking them up several hundred dollars, says, "As an entertainer, you want your fans to be able to attend a show with their friends or family and for the entire experience to be affordable." He goes on to say, "We're not asking for a ban on scalping, but there have to be rules in place that protect the fans and keep them from getting ripped off like this."
The Tennessee Sports & Entertainment Industry Coalition is proposing legislation called the Fairness in Ticket Act that will end deceptive marketing of resale tickets to concerts and sporting events. If the reform is approved by the Tennessee General Assembly, it should provide fans with greater access to tickets at their face value as opposed to inflated costs.
There you have it. Country music stars are looking out for their fans!
