Craig Morgan and the Jack Daniel Distillery company are joining forces to help military personnel and their families travel from their bases to their homes through a special program called "Operation Ride Home" this holiday season. Craig, a 10-year Army veteran, will serve as the national spokesperson for the campaign.
Through travel vouchers for airline tickets and pre-paid debit cards for gas and lodging and other services, the distillery helped send more than 700 soldiers from Fort Campbell [Ky.] Army base to their homes and families last year. They hope to increase that number for the 2012 season. Many personnel do not have the means or opportunity to travel over the holidays, a situation to which Craig can certainly relate.
"Having been there, I know that empty feeling in your gut when you want to travel from your home base for the holidays but just don't have the money to do it," Craig noted in a release about the campaign. "There are so many of these heroes who have served multiple deployments overseas and haven't seen their families for years."
