Don’t look for Miranda Lambert to follow her husband, Blake Shelton, down the holiday album trail . . . ever.
“I will never do one because he wears me out with Christmas music,” she emphatically told Country Weekly last weekend at the L.A. taping of Blake Shelton's Not So Family Christmas, Blake's NBC holiday special. “He listens to Christmas music all year round. I love Christmas music and Christmas, but he does enough for both of us.” Blake’s album Cheers, It’s Christmas debuted at No. 6 on Billboard’s country albums chart in October.
Miranda takes issue with the current custom of playing holiday songs as soon as the season changes to fall. She prefers the days of old when people would hold off on Christmas decorating and carol listening until after Thanksgiving, and would take the holidays one at a time. “I get burnt out,” Miranda continued. “They start playing Christmas music before Halloween. By the time it gets here, I’m over it.”
One thing she’s definitely not over is her role as one-third of the Pistol Annies. The group plans to hit the studio at the end of November with an eye toward releasing a new album in the spring.
Blake Shelton's Not So Family Christmas airs Dec. 3 at 10 p.m ET on NBC and features Blake and Miranda duetting on a holiday version of his No. 1 hit “Home."
