Jason Aldean turned the final stop of his 2012 My Kinda Party Tour into his seventh annual Concert for the Cure to raise money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization, which aims to raise awareness for breast cancer. At his Saturday (Oct. 27) show at Dallas' Gexa Energy Pavilion, Jason and wife Jessica presented more than $500,000 in proceeds from the show to representatives from the local Komen chapter.
The performance marked yet another sold-out show on Jason's record-breaking My Kinda Party Tour, but it means more than that to the Aldeans. "The show is always a lot of fun. When people think about breast cancer, obviously it's a terrible disease, but the show is as much about celebrating the people that have beat the disease as much as it is about remembering people that lost their battle with it," says Jason. "It's not a night where everybody is sad, it's a fun show."
The couple first became involved with Susan G. Komen after their friend Melissa died from breast cancer at the age of 29.
