Very few artists see an album go gold in one day.
But after a blitz of national and international media appearances, Taylor Swift did just that with her new album, Red, according to Billboard. In addition to all that press, a monster first single, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," is also fueling sales.
And experts say she's on track to sell more than 1 million copies in first-week sales, a rare feat in any genre.
If Taylor pulls it off, she would be the first female artist to have two million-plus sales weeks. Ever.
Taylor had her first platinum-in-a-week album with Speak Now two years ago.
So how did Taylor go gold in a day? With more than a quarter million in sales at iTunes alone, while Target, the exclusive outlet for Taylor's deluxe version of Red, moved 160,000 copies on the first day.
