Jason Aldean says the kids today have it lucky, what with all this Facebook and Twitter and YouTube and whatnot.
“I mean, I came up in this business before we really had all that stuff—before there was Twitter and MySpace and Facebook and all that kind of stuff. So, I know how hard it was as a musician,” Jason told reporters recently.
“Unless people actually showed up and came to your show, there was no way for you to reach those people. There wasn't iTunes for new bands and unsigned bands. There was none of that stuff.”
Case in point—Justin Bieber.
“That’s a prime example. You know, he’s one of the biggest artists that we have right now, and the guy got discovered singing songs on YouTube. That to me sums it up.”
But don’t get Jason wrong: He loves using online outlets now.
“I think it’s great for us established artists to be able to kind of still stay connected with fans,” Jason says. “Kind of let them know what's going on with whatever you’re doing.
