The Bee Gees' Barry Gibb will play the Grand Ole Opry for the first time Friday (July 27), in what is believed to be his first public performance since his brother Robin died in May in England.
While Barry Gibb at the Opry may seem random, Nashville insiders know that he had been a longtime friend and collaborator of Johnny Cash.
In fact, Barry bought Johnny and June Carter Cash's home in Hendersonville, Tenn., back in 2006, before it burned to the ground in 2007 during renovation.
"I have dreamed of performing on the hallowed stage of the Opry since I was 12 years old, so this is a dream come true for me," Barry said in a statement. "There is no greater honor.”
