Country rules! Or at least the country singer is ruling on the inaugural season of ABC's singing contest Duets.
The show is down to four of the original eight contestants, and Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland is the only one of the four mentors with both contestants still in the game.
On the show Thursday (July 5), mentor/pop singer Robin Thicke lost his only remaining contestant, Olivia Chisolm.
But both of Jennifer's contestants did well. Fellow Georgian John Glosson sang "Georgia on My Mind" with Jennifer. And Kelly Clarkson said on the air that she couldn't hear John, but later, Kelly gave John props via Twitter .
"Way to go John Glosson!! I couldn't hear you that well in the studio tonight at Duets but I just heard it on tv and you kicked butt! Great job," Kelly wrote.
Still, Kelly and the other judges saved their most effusive praise for Jennifer's other contestant, J. Rome, who blew them away with "God Bless the Child."
Earlier in the week, Kelly sustained a hairline fracture in her ankle , but that didn't stop her from getting up during J. Rome's performance.
"I stood up three times and my foot is killing me!" Kelly said.
Fans' votes now join those from the mentors, so results won't be revealed until next week's show.
