Jake Owen's career is hotter than it's ever been. He recently followed up the success of his No. 1 hit "Barefoot Blue Jean Night" with a second chart-topping single, "Alone With You," and celebrated his second turn atop the Billboard country singles chart with a party at Nashville restaurant Cabana.
The achievement caps an already highlight-filled couple of months, where Jake kicked off his slot as an opening act on Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw's Brothers of the Sun Tour and married his longtime love, Lacey Buchanan. "It has been pretty much of a whirlwind," he tells CountryWeekly.com, and he's grateful for all of it. "I always try to really appreciate it. Every night I say my prayers and thank the good Lord for blessing me with things that I sometimes don't feel worthy of, but I was raised in a great family and it taught me to be appreciative of the things that come my way, both good and bad. There are reasons for everything. I've seen both sides of that. I try to appreciate what is happening. Thanks to Kenny and Tim for having me on the road with them and these multiweek No. 1 songs in a row."
Jake's keeping the momentum going by gearing up to release the four-song E, Summer Jam. Jake says the idea for the EP comes from wanting to offer something fresh to his fans. "In our world these days, there is this instantaneous need—people want things now—and I'm on my third single off the Barefoot Blue Jean [Night] album, which will be almost two years old at the end of this year, and I wanted to give my fans something new, something to hold on to in the summertime, so it's an EP full of summer songs that you can crank up on the boat and turn up loud when you are on the beach. I'm just very appreciative of everything. My life is very complete right now."
The star is taking his aim at the country charts again with his latest single, "The One That Got Away."
