Looks like the tide is going out on Jason Aldean's anger over a $100 ticket for swimming in the ocean when swimming had been temporarily banned earlier this week.
"I want to apologize for my comments this week," Jason tweeted Thursday (June 14) . "Although i dont completely agree with how it was handled, i understand why it was done."
Jason went on a rant after getting the ticket Monday (June 11) from deputies on the beach in Grayton Beach, Fla., during a time when lifeguards were flying two red flags to indicated dangerous swimming conditions.
Among other things, Jason referred to an officer as "Barney Fife," a reference to the bumbling deputy on The Andy Griffith Show.
But the Walton County sheriff's office told Panama City TV station WMBB that a deputy first issued Jason a warning, and only issued the ticket when Jason went in the water after getting that warning.
"We don't want to treat anyone differently just because of their status," sheriff's spokeswoman Wendy Ammons said.
With Thursday's apology, Jason joins at least one other country star in backing off a Twitter rant.
Luke Bryan lambasted a Nashville sushi restaurant after a manager asked him to take off his ballcap. But Luke backed off the next day.
"Well in the wake of my drunk tweets. I do wanna apologize to [the restaurant]," he wrote.
