Country beauties Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert both made high-profile appearances recently, taking their cues from the world of bridal fashion.
For her recent American Idol performance of the title track from her new album, Blown Away, Carrie stunned in a white gown—which is actually a wedding gown from the Theia Spring 2012 collection. Carrie, who won American Idol back in 2005, looked better suited for the stage than the wedding aisle thanks to a few alterations.
Carrie's stylist lost the bridal feel of the dress by altering it with chiffon accents on the shoulder and tying a black sash around the waist. Then she added black and gray sandals to finish off the look, according to instyle.com .
Meanwhile, Miranda's country-chic look at the recent Kentucky Derby was inspired by a famous recent bride, Catherine, Dutchess of Cambridge (often referred to in the media as Kate Middleton), who wed Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, in 2011. “She definitely looked to Kate Middleton for her Derby hat style,” Miranda's stylist Tiffany Gifford told Instyle.com of the Giovannio New York fascinator that Miranda wore to the Kentucky Derby. The fascinator is also a item of choice for many brides.
“Miranda specifically asked for a fascinator this year because the big hat she wore last year was so heavy it hurt her neck! She loved the little cage on the front because it was just the right amount of retro," said Tiffany.
