After nearly two years of bringing up surprise pop-rock guests at her shows, Taylor Swift was the surprise guest.
The sold-out crowd for Nashville-based folk-pop duo The Civil Wars, at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, was kind of dumbfounded when Taylor walked out, The Tennessean reported .
And The Civil Wars—Joy Williams and John Paul White—had a little fun bringing her out, telling the crowd they were going to introduce a shy newcomer.
"We like to give back to the community and to people that their careers are struggling a lot more than ours," John explained.
"She's new," Joy added, before gesturing to a figure backstage and saying, "Don't be shy, it's cool. Come on out."
Taylor and The Civil Wars have been tearing up the iTunes singles chart with a haunting, stripped-down song for the Hunger Games soundtrack called "Safe & Sound."
And that's what the three performed , with just a guitar.
Taylor also proved to be a gracious guest.
"This is so sold out right now, do you know that?" She said to the duo. "You guys are really good."
