Country singer Mindy McCready emerged from a closed-door hearing in Melbourne, Ark., Monday (Dec. 5) smiling and facing no charges on allegations that she kidnapped her 5-year-old son from his grandfather's Florida home.
"I can't talk about it, but I tell y'all I'm a happy girl," Mindy told reporters as she left the courtroom.
Mindy had been found hiding with her son, Zander, in a closet in an Arkansas home last week. But NBC and other media outlets report she faces no charges at this time.
Meanwhile, NBC says some new allegations have surfaced against Zander's legal guardians , Mindy's mom and stepdad, self-described preachers Gayle and Michael Inge.
Gayle's mother, Joan Stancel, filed a handwritten affidavit with the court alleging Gayle and Michael are part of a group, Treasures of the Snow, that hold "cultish beliefs." Joan also accused the two of using a wooden spoon to discipline the boy.
"I was so worried he would break his bones," Joan wrote.
The Inges told NBC there was no such abuse whatsoever, that Florida state agencies have checked on Zander's well-being.
