Joshua Scott Jones of Steel Magnolia is “doing wonderful” after finishing his rehabilitation program, says his Steel Magnolia partner and fiancée, Meghan Linsey. In late September, Joshua announced that he was entering a rehabilitation program for alcohol and substance abuse .
“He completed his program,” Meghan tells CountryWeekly.com. “I think it’s a real brave thing. He’s done really well and stuck it out and did the whole thing. He's got some other commitments to fulfill as part of that, but I’m proud of him. I’ve just tried to support him, and the fans and the label have been supersupportive.”
In the interim, big-voiced, soulful singer James Otto has been filling in for Joshua on Reba’s All the Women I Am Tour, for which Steel Magnolia is an opening act. “He’s got an amazing voice,” says Meghan. “I feel like we’ve got a really good friendship. Immediately I thought of him [to fill in], because he’s got that soul and power in his voice. He definitely fits in on the tour—he definitely brings in the fun!”
Meghan reunited with Joshua onstage for a performance at the Ryman Auditorium on Nov. 7 as part of the benefit concert Let Us In Nashville: A Tribute to Linda McCartney. The song of choice? Paul McCartney’s “Maybe I’m Amazed,” which has special meaning to both Meghan and Joshua. “That’s our song,” said Meghan. “It was emotional because we haven’t performed together in a little while and we’ve been through so much in the past several months. It’s definitely an honor anytime you get to sing a Paul McCartney song.”
When asked when Joshua would return to the road, his publicist declined comment.
