So Dierks Bentley scored another No. 1 plaque recently for “Am I the Only One.” And that plaque will end up with all the rest—sitting in a pile in his basement, he tells YallWire.com .
“I’ve never hung a No. 1 plaque or a gold or a platinum record in my life in my house. Ever,” Dierks says. “I have them but I don’t like hanging them up and going, ‘Hey, I’m No. 1!’
“If you come in my house, you wouldn’t even know I was a singer. Except there’s like 5 billion acoustic guitars lying around. . . . I’m on the road and I come home and I’m around music all the time. And I come in my house and I really don’t need to be reminded of what I do.”
While Dierks doesn't love the plaques, he says he treasures the fans, the music makers and others who helped him earn them.
“It’s the people that mean something,” he says.
