Keith Urban took a page out of the Taylor Swift handbook and brought one of his famous friends up onstage in the middle of a concert.
“We don’t usually do this, but a friend of mine happens to be in town shooting a movie so he’s here tonight,” Keith said Tuesday night (Sept. 27) at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, the movie-making capitol of Canada. "Give it up for Russell Crowe!”
The crowd went wild, according to The Vancouver Observer , though the enthusiasm dulled for a minute after Russell started talking.
“It’s my first time in Vancouver. I must say, it’s a beautiful town, but my god you have some bad weather!” Russell said, which muted the crowd for a minute. But he got ’em back with an enthusiastic cover of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues,” which an audience member captured and put up on YouTube .
The newspaper reviewer crowed: “Two Aussies for the price of one. Certainly more entertainment than anyone had expected.”
For his part, Russell seemed to enjoy the night. "hey
@KeithUrban great gig last night mate, thanks for letting me join in the fun, travel safe," he tweeted the next day.
