But Taylor played her adopted hometown of Nashville this past week, so country was king among her surprise guests.
Tim McGraw had the crowd screaming when he and Taylor appeared on a couch together during Saturday night’s show at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, and the two sang Tim’s “Just to See You Smile” together.
“That doesn’t happen every day,” Taylor told the crowd.
But it does seem to happen every day Taylor is playing a major music city on her Speak Now World Tour.
Kenny Chesney, in ballcap, T-shirt and khakis, brought a guitar out to sing “Big Star” with Taylor .
And Friday night, Ronnie Dunn and Taylor sang Ronnie’s solo break-out hit “Bleed Red.”
Taylor did throw two non-country singers into the mix this weekend, her good friend Haley Williams of Paramore, who sang the pop-rock band’s “That’s What You Get” with Taylor. And Saturday night, pop singer Andy Grammer sang his hit “Keep Your Head Up.”
The icing on the cake: Shortly before Saturday’s show, Taylor’s record label presented her with a plaque showing she has sold more than five million copies of her latest album, Speak Now, meaning all three of Taylor’s albums have now reached five-times platinum status.
“It’s kind of unreal,” Taylor told gathered reporters and music industry types. “I can’t wrap my mind around that.”
