Kenny Chesney is singing a new tune for sports network ESPN.
Titled “Rise Up,” the Kenny-penned tune will be the theme song for a new ESPN series, also titled Rise Up. The show, which debuted Sept. 13, visits high schools across America and surprises the students and staff with makeovers.
In the first episode , the staff and students at Wellston High School in Wellston, Ohio, learn that their gymnasium will receive a renovation. The school has certainly weathered some rough times, including poor facilities and the saddening death of baseball and basketball coach Jim Derrow.
"Rise Up," which features an appropriate message of hope and healing, includes the lines, This ol’ world keeps turning, you get crushed beneath the wheel / We all got broken lives / But broken lives can heal.
Kenny has had a a long history with ESPN, having produced and narrated the hour-long documentary The Color Orange: The Condredge Holloway Story and co-directed the ESPN film The Boys of Fall.
