U2’s Bono spent a night in Nashville chatting about worldwide health issues and social causes with country stars. During a concert Saturday night (July 2) in Vanderbilt Stadium, Bono referred to meeting with “Carrie," “Dierks” and others.
Bono is very active in bringing life-saving immunizations to children in poor countries.
“You people are extraordinary people in all your areas of music, but you bring such values and such commitment to the world’s poor,” he said onstage. “That’s very, very special to us.”
In another nod to country music, Bono did an impression of Johnny Cash on the song “The Wanderer,” which Johnny sang on U2’s 1993 album, Zooropa.
Bono talked about many “special times” he spent with Johnny and his wife, June Carter Cash, in the Nashville area.
