More than 13,000 folks showed and more than $1 million was raised in Birmingham last night (June 14) at the Bama Rising benefit for tornado victims in the state. And anchor group Alabama promised that last night wasn’t the end of those efforts.
“This is not the last thing we’ll do,” lead singer Randy Owen told the crowd, according to The Birmingham News .
Most acts did two songs each, with the event stretching over five hours.
“Thank you everyone who stayed till the end tonight,” Brad Paisley tweeted early this morning .
Yes, Brad did “Old Alabama,” and yes, the boys of Alabama joined in. Also onstage: Dierks Bentley, Martina McBride, Mongomery Gentry, Sara Evans and Little Big Town, with a funky twist added by The Commodores.
