For those of us who weren’t invited to the recent nuptials between Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, newly married Blake shed gave some insight into one of the “coolest” moments for him during the country-chic ceremony in Texas on May 14.
“It was when Miranda came down the aisle and she was with her dad,” Blake told reporters backstage during a press conference on Sunday, June 12. “They came down and stopped right in front of us. [Bridesmaid] Ashley Monroe was playing a song, the song that Miranda walked down the aisle to. [Miranda] stopped right there and we had this moment where we were looking at each other and it was starting to get to me. I looked over at [her dad] Rick, and he cries a lot anyway, so he was starting to cry. Then all of a sudden you hear just a little bit of [audio] feedback [from the guitar] and Miranda began, under her breath, to say to Ashley, ‘Did you turn the guitar off? Turn the guitar off! Turn it off!’ So then I realize I’m still marrying . . . this is good ol’ Miranda.”
Though the ceremony and Mexico honeymoon is over, Blake says the couple is still receiving wedding gifts. “Nothing really crazy, though. It’s amazing how many gifts I’m still getting from fans at meet and greets. Nice stuff, too, it blows me away. I told Miranda, ‘Tell people to send flowers to something or donate money to something or whatever,’ but people just want to celebrate it with you. It’s fun for them. I haven’t gotten anything weird, just nice gifts—dishes, picture frames, stuff that you go, ‘Dang it, I can’t believe they are doing that.’ It’s a pretty good feeling.”
