When newcomer Sunny Sweeney opens for Brad Paisley on his upcoming H2O II: Wetter & Wilder World Tour, she’ll already have a Top 10 hit, “From a Table Away,” under her belt. “It’s my first big tour and what better tour to get on?” Sunny tells CountryWeekly.com of her slot on the H2O II tour, which kicks off in Pittsburgh on May 28.
Of course, several of her industry peers have prepared Sunny for Brad’s sense of humor on the road. “Everybody’s told me he’s a prankster,” says Sunny, who says she’s more than up to the challenge. “I hope he pranks me, because then he’s going to get it back,” she says with a laugh. “ I can hold my own in the prank department. I come from a big family, so I’ve had things drilled into me that I know already. I have some [ideas] stored up.”
Pranks aside, Sunny says that one of Brad’s first hit songs, “He Didn’t Have to Be,” is one she’ll look forward to hearing live on the tour. “I remember I [purchased] that song for my stepdad, Paul," says Sunny. "I heard that song and I started sobbing because I’m really close to my stepdad. I always listen to older country music, so when I relate to an artist [whose music is] not, you know, made before 1982, it’s cool to me.”
Much like other artists on the tour, Sunny hopes to get a musical education while on the road. “Brad, as an entertainer, is just the best," Sunny states. "There's no way around that. More than anything, I’m looking forward to learning from him. I’m going to watch his show every night and find out what I can do to make my own show better. He’s one of those people that tries to amp up every show and make each show even better.”
