Johnny Cash’s childhood home in Dyess, Ark., will be restored, thanks to funds that will be raised from the newly minted Johnny Cash Music Festival, scheduled for Aug. 4 in Jonesboro, Ark.
Johnny's childhood home has been purchased by Arkansas State University, which will use funds raised from the concert to restore the home.
The artist lineup for the festival will be filled with family, friends and admirers of Johnny, including his daughter Rosanne Cash, his son and daughter-in-law John Carter Cash and Laura Cash, brother Tommy Cash and granddaughter Chelsea Crowell (the daughter of Rosanne Cash and Rodney Crowell). Additional performers will include George Jones, Rodney Crowell, Kris Kristofferson, Gary Morris and bluegrass duo Daily & Vincent. Other performers are expected to be announced.
The concert will also fund the Johnny Cash Boyhood Museum in the New Deal Era Administration Building in Dyess, Ark.
