They say Christmas is best when it's shared with family - and Aaron Tippin obviously takes that sentiment to heart.
The in-your-face anthem Aaron wrote with wife Thea, "Kiss This," became a No. 1 smash, so expanding their professional partnership was a natural. That's just what this couple does on Aaron's first Christmas album - fully half the songs bear the songwriting stamp of this inseparable twosome, and Thea chimes in on harmony vocals throughout.
The tunes the pair has written for December tend toward the funny, lighthearted and romantic. "It's A Good Thing Santa Ain't Single" is a raucous little number that ponders what would happen to the average guy's social life if Mr. Claus were free to date, while Mrs. Claus gets her due in "The Year That Santa Never Came."
On the romantic side, there's the yearning "It's Way Too Close To Christmas To Be This Far From You," and Aaron and Thea's intimate duet on the title track. The Tippins also pair up for "Away In A Manger," one of several seasonal standards on the album. Elsewhere, Aaron digs into lively renditions of "Jingle Bell Rock" and "Run Rudolph Run," and summons a little of the spirit of Elvis on "Blue Christmas."
A December To Remember gives Aaron's rough-edged charm a warm-and-cozy
setting that suits him well - and serves notice that when it comes to his music, fans can look forward to getting two Tippins for the price of one.
