Young stars like Luke Bryan, Joe Nichols, Josh Turner and others are keeping the flames of hard-core country burning brightly. These new traditionalists talk about where their styles came from and how they see the future of country music. Joe credits his influences, such as Randy Travis and George Strait, for his sound.
“Those were the guys I learned how to sing from,” he says. Luke notes that the new generation all came from similar backgrounds. “We’re small-town guys from country places,” he tells Country Weekly. “I always loved country, always sang country.” Plus, rising stars Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser and Justin Moore share their thoughts on “keeping it country.”
