What do you think was the best song of last year? Well, if you voted in Radio & Records' recent poll, it's likely you answered Lee Ann Womack's megahit "I Hope You Dance."
The song was named 2001 single of the year by the trade magazine, as voted on by R&R readers.
"Just when it seems like 'I Hope You Dance' is fixin' to slow down, it picks right back up," Lee Ann told Launch.com.
"The R&R Readers' Poll is an especially nice thing, because these are the people who build a bridge between the music and the fans.
"They're the ones who get this music heard and turn the fans on --and the idea that they're as proud of this song as I am, well, that shows people really do identify with what this song is saying."
Be sure to check out the Grammy Awards Wednedsay (Feb. 21), where "Dance" is nominated for both song and country song of the year.
