Country fans already know that Collin Raye has a big heart -- after all, it seems like every time you turn around he's raising money for a worthy cause, putting on a benefit concert or contributing in some other way to a charitable organization.
Now Collin's been recognized for his generosity and caring spirit. Last week, he was presented with the prestigious Artist Humanitarian Award from the Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc. (CRB).
"This means more to me than any award I could get for a song or an album or a video," said Collin. "I accept this on behalf of all the people who work for these organizations day after day for no recognition at all; they're the real heroes."
So what exactly makes Collin the obvious choice for this year's award? Here's a brief look:
As if these achievements weren't enough, there's much more. Over the past five years Collin has hosted a benefit concert in his hometown of DeQueen, Arkansas, raising well over $100,000 for scholarships, school programs, musical instruments, community improvements and even an all-weather track for a local high school. Countless organizations have benefited from Collin's involvement with them, including Special Olympics, Al-Anon and United Cerebral Palsy, just to name a few.
