Chely Wright was one of many performers for the PBS special "Capitol Fourth." The singer was overwhelmed with honor that she was asked to take part in the celebration because she comes from a military family.
"I got out there and thought of my grandfather who was in the Army in World War II, my dad who served in the Navy and my brother who is in his 12th year with the Marine Corps. That's some heavy stuff when you grow up knowing all the wounds of those who served."
She sang three songs including her current hit "Single White Female" as well as "Never Love You Enough." For her last song she sang Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land."
Chely was very pleased take part in the event and said "being at the nation's Capitol on the 4th of July is similar to being at the North Pole on Christmas. I take a lot of honor and pride of being asked to do this."
